About Us
PROTECTING THE WATERWAYS OF THE lehigh valley
Our Mission & Approach
The PIX, Inc. objective is to bring municipalities, discharging businesses, regulators, environmentalists, and concerned citizens together in a synergistic, coordinated group to leverage limited resources through information sharing, networking, and mentoring; enabling businesses and municipalities that have successfully managed environmental issues to assist those with similar issues in a discrete and non-regulatory manner.
The PIX Mission
To help Lehigh Valley point source and indirect dischargers implement, develop, and share, innovative and effective pretreatment technologies and best management practices through continued education and networking opportunities.
The PIX Vision
Lehigh Valley waterways are fully protected from harmful industrial, commercial, and domestic wastewater dischargers.
The Pretreatment Information Exchange (PIX) was originally started in the mid-1990s by pretreatment personnel from the Allentown, Bethlehem, Catasauqua, and Easton wastewater treatment plants. During the 2004-2005 time period, a Lehigh Valley-based industry was ordered to pay a fine to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which subsequently was earmarked as funds for the PIX Group with the understanding it would become a nonprofit incorporation and continue its work with environmental awareness to the people, industry, and regulators of the Lehigh Valley. PIX, Inc. became incorporated as a 501(c)3 in May 2005. To date, PIX, Inc. has held various seminars with the support of local industries and vendors ranging from local case studies, regulatory updates, innovative pretreatment options, and effects of emerging contaminants just to name a few.
Revitalization
With a fresh new look, a new generation of wastewater treatment professionals have joined the association to continue the legacy created by its founders.
